Keeping Nottingham connected
Keeping Nottingham connected
Nottinghams’ nearby Ring-Road with its direct access to the main A60 link road, means the city centre is less than a 20 minute drive away and Arnold offers excellent transport connections to surrounding areas with local bus routes and tram stops all being close by. The NCT, Trent Barton and Sherwood Arrow bus services take you through Sherwood into Nottingham City Centre alongside other frequent routes to the towns and villages nearby. We’d recommend catching the Trent Barton Calverton bus over to Sherwood as it’s another exciting High Street to explore!
A busy market town
A busy market town
Arnold is a busy Market Town full of vibrant cafes, restaurants and bars, if you’re after a bite to eat, you’ll be spoilt for choice with 26 restaurants listed on Trip Advisor and any number of takeaways and snack bars. There’s a huge variety and something to suit everyone.
Emilio’s Greek restaurant, the Istanbul Turkish restaurant and Sprinters premiere steak house all offer relaxed dining at competitive prices. Recently opened bars like Dexters, Sashas and a new Irish bar compliment the existing local pubs to provide a lively lunchtime and night-time scene.
Front Street, in the town centre, is the main shopping area, soon to include the newly developed marketplace site. The current market is held every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday (8.30 till 3.30) in its temporary home on Eagle Square and the new site is due to open for business in late Spring 2022.
A large family population
A large family population
The busy High Street includes established retailers like Boots, WHSmith, Wilko and Iceland with a selection of high-quality independent stores, bakeries and cafes all offering quality produce at reasonable prices. Larger family supermarkets are close by with Asda and Sainsburys within walking distance and Lidl and Aldi in Daybrook, just down the road.
With a large family population, schooling in the area is also important and for those with children looking to move to the town, there is a good selection of primary and secondary schools to choose from. We would always recommend researching the local catchment areas with the school directory at Find and compare schools in England – GOV.UK to get the best up to date information available for schools of interest … perhaps use the following list as a starting point!

There are lots of footpaths and cycling trails and a choice of parks in the surrounding areas. The hiking loop from nearby Woodthorpe and the Arnot Hill Park and Gardens are both within easy reach. Gedling Country Park, Bestwood Country Park and Woodthorpe Grange Park offer open fields for families to enjoy outdoor activities, dog walks and picnics (weather permitting of course!) and are well worth a visit.
The town offers an exciting mix of properties to buy or rent, everything from Victorian terraces up to detached family homes and bungalows. Nearby Woodthorpe is renowned for its stunning houses both modern and traditional and there are multiple New Build sites and developments ongoing. The most recent site on Rolleston Drive is set to house 131 new properties and there are well-known builders and developers expanding into both Redhill and the Calverton area also. This will provide further housing for new buyers hoping to relocate to Arnold as well as existing residents.
