A local Sandiacre landmark is Springfield Mill. This iconic grade II listed building built in 1888 for Terah Hooley by local Long Eaton Architect, John Sheldon as a lace mill. Following the lace industry decline the building laid empty until it was sympathetically restored in 2006 into 104 luxury apartments. There was a major fire at Springfield Mill in April 2020, during the first Covid-19 Lockdown. A number of residents had to be evacuated, thank fully on one was hurt and while significantly damaged the building has been repaired.
